During this meet we will be holding our Barton Turf Water Adventure Activity Weekend see seperate page
Following our sucessful meet here last year we are returning again for 2008 (Map Ref: TG 3560.2250) The cost last year was £24 per unit, + £1.00 per day launch fee and the necessary Broads Authority licence, obtainable from the Broads Office at Wroxam or "Broads Authority, Thomas Harvey House, 18 Colegate, Norwich, NR3 1BQ. Tel: 01603 610734

This is a local authority sail-training establishment. A new manager took control in January this year. The sit consist of 5 small fields on which there is a schoolroom with kitchen and shower/ toilet blocks, several workshops for boats etc and a large fleet of boats. I understand that they also own the 13 acres of marshland between the site and the edge of the broad. There is a hard track (less than 100 yds.) from the site along the edge of the broad to a good well-maintained slip into the water. Beside the slip there is ample decking to moor a fleet of boat, so you can sail without getting your feet wet. Sailing licences appear to cost in the region of £13 per week.
Barton Turf is an original cargo staithe off the broad; it is served by a wide (30-40ft) inlet coming off the broad. The campsite is one side of this inlet and a commercial boat yard the other. At the mouth of the inlet is a small island, with sailing in both directions. Once out on the broad there is plenty of interesting sailing in either direction.
